Getting the Right Team
Very plainly put we can help you get the right people ‘on the bus’*, the wrong people off and the resulting team built together into the most effective leadership to drive your organisation towards its agreed goals and objectives.
Whilst we do not handle volume recruitment assignments, we may be retained to search for the most suitable candidate to complement an existing executive team as part of a larger board development or change programme. This will involve taking a detailed brief of the organisation and the ideal candidate and embarking on a discreet search of the market place (sometimes backed up by a carefully placed advertisement). A shortlist will be prepared with detailed assessment notes from which the candidate may be chosen by the client.
Conversely there are times when it is appropriate for an executive to move on because they have come to the end of their learning or development curve in the current organisation or because they may not fit or accord with the agreed change plan.
In these cases we can provide a completely bespoke outplacement programme for the individual who may wish to consider a broader range of options for their next mission in life. In these cases our wide network can also benefit the individual in securing their next role if they choose to stay in corporate life.
Once you have got the right players ‘on the bus’ Portland International utilises the latest team development techniques and tools to help your teams shape the vision and strategy of your organisation. Our work ensures that your leaders have the right skills to powerfully communicate their strategy and vision right through the organisation, ensuring it receives full buy-in and commitment to implementation. We also provide an approach that your leaders understand each others' values, strengths and weaknesses so that they can function as a complete team, united in purpose.
Top teams provide vital leadership within rapidly changing organisations, and also act as catalysts for the on-going motivation and development of others. Our role is to facilitate this process in a dynamic and powerful way that leads to improvement in team functioning and hence clearer ways of decision-making and strategy execution.
